Question Is this shedding?

Gretta started getting white puffy hairs falling out. I think it's her undercoat And I noticed she has lost a significant amount of hair right behind her horns. Is this normal? Seems like it's a little early to start shedding. She is very itchy. She is being housed in an insulated, heated shed...I keep the temp around 32-39 degrees.
Thanks!

Could be lice.

Why is she kept so warm?

My goats are out in subzero weather and all are fine.

Well, right after the babies were born we got that arctic weather here and it was just too cold. I was really nervous about using a heat lamp in the barn and they were shivering. So I moved them into the shed. It really was so much better for them and for me! I figured I would have to keep them there until spring since we are all used to it now.

Awww..babies! Yup, I moved does and kids to warmth too when they kidded in that nasty arctic weather.

Mine I didnt keep that warm for long. Only till the kids were dry and suckling. Then I let the temp fall to just under 32F and now, a week after the last kid was born, it gets down to the 20's for them.

Maybe keeping it above freezing for a longer duration is causing a false spring shed?
Some do loose areas of the coat where they can have temporary bald spots.

I had an alpine that just loved to shed looking like there was something wrong with him because of odd bald spots.

The temp you have her at is fine, very healthy without stressing them. I have found that my goats like to shed a bit after kidding...has to do with the hormone change. That probably is her undercoat. I wouldn't worry about it. I had an older Nubian years ago that would shed a lot and get really dandruffy right after she kidded for a couple months. It should go away. If she gets scabs, raw areas, or bald spots...then get worried about skin problems. If it's just hairs, then I wouldn't worry.
