Question Banding question

My poor Frankie had a rough day on Saturday. He was dehorned and banded and then later in the day he somehow got a gash on his head too. It's not serious but I sure feel sorry for the little guy. His sister Flossie, was dehorned too and she is doing great jumping and playing and just having a blast. It still seems like Frankie is uncomfortable with the banding. Walking kinda stiff, more quiet than usual and a little shakey. He is eating. He is playing just a bit. He is still crawling on to my lap. But not the usual jumping and running around. Is this normal? I thought that he would be "just fine" after an hour of the banding and it's been 2 days. I'm worried and I'm leaving town in 2 hours for a couple days for my brother's funeral. Life is really sucky right now

Check his temp, watch the skin where the band is and make sure it's not draining. I would expect him to be sore but watch for infection. Some kids just take it harder than others.

That is a lot for the little fellow to go through. How old is he? If he's just under par from the castration I would check the band to make sure the teats weren't caught and the band isn't up so high/tight where his abdomen would be uncomfortable.
I've had some that walk uncomfortably for a few days afterward, but they don't act subdued and certainly not shaky for more than a couple hours post-banding.
So not sure if it's just that or a combo on both procedures and the gash. Could be he's just a more sensitive type.

I agree with moonspinner & dkdairy goats, mine are always jumping around & acting like normal kids with in a few hrs. Something doesn't sound right if it's been 2 days. Maybe it's something else altogether. Let us know how he's doing! Poor little guy I hate it when any of my goats aren't up to Par!

Also check for pulled hair. Sort of like when you wear a pony tail and you get those little hairs in the back pulled into the hair tie. Hurts quite a bit.
I have my dairy neighbor do both my boys and the Nubian whined and shook most of the night. He really is a big cry baby to begin with. Fine the next day.
My newest boy was fine after a couple of hours. I had them both done at 6 weeks old.
Hope he feels better soon.

Thank you everyone...I'm not going to be home until tomorrow afternoon. So all I can do for now is have the babysitter check for pulled hairs if he is still acting uncomfortable. I'll be talking with her in a bit. Thank you!
