De-scenting bucklings with dehorning iron?

I was reading in Caprine Supply catalog that after you dehorn baby kids you can also put the iron on the scent glands (they said located behind the horns) and it would greatly reduce the buck smell as adults. Has anyone actually done this?

Since the strongest smell seems to be from the way they spray themselves with differently body fluids from the complete opposite end of the goat, I am not sure that would help too much with the "bucky" smell.

I've read the same thing and even Goat Medicine talks about a surgical procedure to descent bucks.

My bucks definitely smell more on the tops of their heads than anywhere else. My older boy is GROSS. lol

The scent glands are what makes the bucks smell so musky and strong. While the urine on the face does add to it, most of the strong scent is actually the glands. When I disbud bucklings from now on, I should try that and see how it works.
