Estrumate same as lute?

Well after almost 2 problem free years with goats this month is making up for it
Some how my buck broke the metal wires holding the cattle panels together and busted into the barn/goat baby area. I saw him on my smallest and youngest girl of course!
The buck is lucky that when I went out this morning I was not holding a sharp instrument or he would have went away with one less appendage! Four months of keeping him away from the younger girls so he can ruin it in a few hours.
I called the vet and they said that 11 to 12 days after exposure to give 1/3 cc of Estrumate. I am sure I have read of here that some people give 2 cc's of lute. Is Estrumate more powerful so I can give less?

I will be dosing all 3 of the girls. Two are tiny pymgy girls 6 and 7 months old and Mimi my Boer cross who is 9 months old. I asked if the dosage would be the same for a much larger goat and they said yes.
So will such a small dosage work?

Estrumate and Lutalyse are different drugs...not more powerful but work in different ways. I have never used either of them. I would trust what your vet says.

Unless you know of someone who has used the Estrumate on goats I'd be leary of it. There are protocols that goat people use for Lutalyse. Both drugs are prostaglandins and luteolytic agents, but they are also different in there composition. I wouldn't trust a vet either unless they have used this drug on goats before and know it's effect. Too many vet's out there treating goats like little cows.

So Estrumate is a cow drug? I will have to ask if they have ever used it on goats. Now it has me wondering if I should call around and find Lute.

I did try to google it first but I got all kinds of hits with just "estrumate" When I did "estrumate goats" I got hits for implanting embroys and how to bring goats into heat using it. So I gave up and decided to ask here.
I will question the vet as suggested about his use and results with goats. I don't want them to be pregnant but I do not want to use a cow drug on them that might make matters worse.
Well I am sure Mimi would do fine being he is an ND and she is a 9 month old Boer but I do not want her bred till she is over a year old and not to him. Jim got it into my head that I should breed her with a black Boer same as she is and see how true they breed to their color. That idea has taken hold in my head I'll tell ya.
It is the two little ones getting pregnant that scare me and now I wonder about using a highly concentrated cow drug on them.
Thanks

I have used lutalyse to terminate accidentally breeding it works well. NO ill effects, My vet instructions 30 days after the accidental breeding give
1 1/ 2 cc of Lutalyse in the muscle, Repeat with another 1 1/2 cc in the muscle 48 hours later. Blood on the tail may be observed it s normal.I used it on 6 does that were 7 months old. It worked. Now 6 months later they are be breed by my buck- Planned and they have all cycled and I observed them being breed.

Do not be afraid to use Lutalyse.......a greater fear is a too small doe taking to have a kid and can't
