snowstorm today.....kids due any time...

So I was hoping Luna would go today. Her ligaments last night were very soft and way down low. I was hoping this morning they would be gone and she'd kid on my schedule....oh, by noon or so. There is a snowstorm coming this afternoon--10 inches possible.

It's not below zero or anything so that's good. But with that much snow on the ground it means I can't use the golf cart and I have to lug my own pregnant butt down to the barn the multiple times it takes to check her....and help her....etc. This morning she's very vocal and acting different. Her ligaments, I think, are still barely there. But they're so far down it's hard to tell--I think I can still feel them, though. So it'll probably be the middle of tonight or tomorrow--right in the middle of the snow. Anyone from Minnesota want to tell me to shut up now?! ; )

Got any good snowstorm kid names?

Dee

yuck. me and dh were just talking about having kid #2 and I told him no way until we are set up different, thinking of my pregnant butt hauling feed to the barn and checking does in the middle of the night. I hope she goes soon for you and doesn't wait until the most inconvenient time.

Wishing you luck. Don't slip and fall now with the load your carrying.
Where are you located?? The snowstorm is already here. We have had two inches in 30 minutes so far and showing no signs of slowing down.

It's really coming down here too. We went from nothing to everything covered in no time. I was a snow woosie and ran into town yesterday for groceries/feed. Unless it's an emergency, I don't plan on going anywhere until it's MELTED.. we've got a couple does due this weekend. I'm hoping it will be gone by then. I saw the storm in Minn. yesterday.. I'm almost ashamed to even mention our white stuff! (it's not even that cold, just under freezing)
Good luck on the kidding MamaDee, let us know how it goes

I tell you they find the worst time to have those babies don't they?
We has our second baby born here years ago, and he was born is such a bad blizzard, so he was named blizzard. It was so bad that we did not have powers for 5 days, and no school for over a week. The kids were on Spring Break, and the storm came in on Sunday after noon so the school was closed the whole next week. (The were not upset at all until they had to make up a couple days at the end of the year).
We were luck that it never got to cold, just LOTS of snow and wind, so it broke power POLES all over the place..

I have one due "any minute" as well. I guess I prefer the snow we're getting now to the horrible cold snap we had a couple of weeks ago.

Be careful, everyone!

maelstrom & icicle?

Our first doe kidded yesterday - zero degrees - and all is fine. DH out of town, of course. Kids home from school due to -30 wind chills. Not easy but memorable with a happy ending.

Wishing you the same doe/kid success with better weather and better help!

I'm in the same situation...storm coming tonight, Princess due any minute and I'm also pregnant. To top it off, we don't live where the goats are....they're on a farm 5 min. away and we're in an apartment. No more winter kids for me next year!!

I just came in from finally making it out - had to wait for DD to nap -- I couldn't imagne having kids and then having one on the way, thus no more kids by me! That said our snow south of STL isn't accumulating as fast as your those in the south central area. It's been snowing since 10:30 and I think we are at 2 inches now.

School was crazy today at 9 they said 12:15 by 11:45 parent pick-ups started in then buses as they arrived. Looks like I will be off tomorrow on a snow day!!!

What's the update from other MO folks?

Well, Luna's ligaments are gone now......but when I just checked her she's still just circling around a bit and laying down and back up and talking. No pushing or goo, so it's just early labor so far. It's looking like serious money on the middle of the night.......

and I thought I'd take the golf cart down one last time to check her. Not too much snow on most of the yard yet. It went down fine, but not so well back up. So....I parked it at the end of the yard and put the cover on. Looks like it's walking for a few days. And....hubby informs me he is stuck at work all night until tomorrow afternoon b/c of the snow. He works at the airport.

So....looks like me and my 5 human kids (plus my little growing sprout) in the snowstorm with Laboring Luna.

Please send kidding vibes to her so she'll go before bedtime......without hubby here I hate to leave the sleeping kids in the middle of the night to help birth a goat. I know most of the time things go fine by themselves. But my last Kinder couldn't do it alone and I had to go in to get the triplets out. I'm scared I won't be able to be there for Luna and something will go wrong.

Ugh!

Dee

Ohh, Dee!!! Good luck tonight I hope you have some older human kids to help out.

Well when I called and DH was still at work in downtown STL I was informed he gets paid to be there...........even though he has a ton of vacation and drives a GEO METRO!!!! Maybe he already has cabin fever from thinking about being snowed in with us...

I do. My oldest is 12. I have two boys 12 and 8, a girl 6, another boy 3 and 18 month old girl. The oldest are plenty old enough to stay up with the baby while I'm at the barn for short periods....put in Johnny Quest and they'll all stare at the t.v. for half an hour or more. The rule is the bedroom door stays shut so the baby doesn't wander around the house. They'd never notice her leave since the t.v. seems to suck out their brains.

I just don't know what to do exactly if she's hasn't started serious labor by bedtime.......

We milk in an hour. We'll see what she's doing then.

Anybody have kids yet?????

Nice to meet some MO neighbors. We live about an hour and a half NW of St. Louis. Only about 1-2 inches so far here.

I'm here in the MO snow too! *waves*

Thankfully, my husband can get those 55 gallon barrels from work now, and last night I went and hauled a bunch of water in before it started snowing. He has to work late tonight... so it was a good thing!
