Administering Probios?

Do you use this for new kids, and if so, how do you administer it to kids who are not bottle fed?

They make a paste - it comes in a tube. You could get that and squeeze it into their moths.

We only use it if we have had to give meds for scouring or whatever...to help kick their systems back in. But mostly it is for reinstating rumen bacteria, so if they are not eating grass/hay yet, they probably wouldn't need it - the milk goes past the rumen right to the abomasum.

Doesn't probiotics have some kind of lactose consuming bacteria? That should be the bacteria that breaks down milk sugar.

Gosh-- I'm not sure. It may. But again - we don't use it prophelactically on kids, so I don't know.

It certainly wouldn't hurt a kid - I'm just not 100% sure what benefit it would have if you have a normal, healthy kid. They should be able to digest mother's milk without help.
