Is that to be "wether" or just plain stupidness?

I would imagine the person selling the goats is basically a cattle person who really means a wether.

I've had to explain what a wether is to several non-goat people, and they all got it when I told them it was like a gelding or a steer. Even town people usually know what a steer is. (If they really don't get it, I say it's like a male dog who's been fixed.)

But that's funny that someone who owns goats doesn't know to call a castrated male a wether!

sometimes, it just not worth the breath to explain to them what a castrated goat is called. yep, I just smile along and say nothing. some folks are just that much into cattle or horses. but, it does get the message across of what they have for sale.

I saw a local ad a few months back for "Norwegian Dwarf Goat". It was a NIGERIAN Dwarf, of course, but the guy didn't know anything about it. A pet that had been loved but not well-understood.
