First Babies of the Year!
Our first Mini-Nubians were born last March, and they are beautiful. We planned breeding them later than our independent miss Bramble. She sneaked in with the buck (we didn't know that at the time!)
And so... Bracken delivered twins this evening - one buck and one doe. The babies are 1/4 Nubian, 1/16 Saanen, and 11/16 Nigerian Dwarf. The doe is solid white, the buck is brown ticked with black. We are delighted that she had no trouble at all.. little hussy went and got herself pregnant at the tender age of five months!
All seems well in the barn, both babies drying off, cords dipped, and had their first snack. I'll get pictures tomorrow.. but oh! These babies are delightfully small, so tiny and perfect, but robust too. We don't have a special breeding program, we aimed for the mother and her sister and are very pleased with both of them. Bracken's twin sister Bramble has comported herself in a more demure fashion and will not be delivering until mid-March.
It's always exciting, isn't it? We also have an Alpine doe and a full blood registerable Nigie doe bred to the same buck, due next month. And I guess later this week I'll be dehorning baby goats, already!
