What do you know about goat herpes?

I am not sure if I am dealing with it in my flock. One had bumps on her vulva a few months ago. I figured it may be sore mouth since the buck came from a boer herd and he was mouthing that area. (and I read somewhere it was more prevalent in boer herds) I figured it would run it's course, I just kept an eye on the ladies, not hard to do since I am always out there. So now, a different doe aborts (around day 100). I have found very little on the web about it, any one have any info? I have cleaned up the pen, discarded changed the hay. I did not see the babies, to determine if it was just that the doe got butted, since the Pyr's ate all the placenta etc....

Some sites say use LA 200, on all the other does others say do not.

Any body dealt with this? Can not call a vet at this hour, figured I would ask here first.

It is herd, not flock just so you know

I would call the vet today. Maybe he can come and have a look at the bumps, and take a sample??? Thats about all I can say sorry I do know some people give La 200 after they abort for some reason.

I don't have any insight into goat herpes, but I know that in people herpes llysine, zinc and vit c will make it subside. Dont know if you can dose the goats with it, check before you do. For people it is one llysine, one zinc and 1000 mg of vit c 3x a day. good luck, and let us know if you find anything out.
oh, you might try some zinc oxide cream on the bumps too.

Yeah, I knew that Just a little frazzled.....

Unfortunately the bumps are all gone. They went away pretty quick, which is why I kind of blew them off.

Now I am just wondering if I will lose the rest of the pregnancies in the herd.

Thanks for the replies.
