Dairy Goat Conference, OR

Who's going? I know there are a good amount of people from Oregon on this board and was wondering who is planning on going to the Dairy Goat Conference this year?
If you have never heard of it here is a link to there website. It does not say it on the website but I have learned the date has been confirmed!!! And if you look at the registration form you will see the the class's they offered last year.
http://nwodga.org/2008_conference.htm

I went last year and had fun and learned a lot. We also won a new milk stand at the raffle!!! And I had the privilege to meet "GoldenWoodFarm".
Now all I have to do now is convince my dad or my mom to drive me.

Sounds fun but we are in Bend and I don't think I want to travel over the mountain passes in Feb. Plus we have a doe who is due Feb. 20 so we should probably stick around

Marisa you can bet I will be there! I am so excited they are having it again this year . Thankfully everyone will be kidded out by then (until the next wave starts but that isn't until April). Hopefully Kat will be there again also *crosses fingers*. Marisa you know the Kat I am talking about. From Fir Meadows?

Yep yep I can hardly wait!

I hope to see you there!!!!! I know who you are talking about, I got a buckling from her, I did not get too meet her though, her husband was going up towards Portland and we met him in a diner parking lot . I hope she goes to I would love to meet her!!!
How many goats do you have that are giving birth this year? I have 6 and that is including the little doeling(she has a udder now ). I have never had that many kid, last year I only had three kid and I had 7 kids and that was a lot, so this year I am going to bottle feed some and sell them as bottle baby's so I don't have so many kids running around all at the same time when they get older.

See you there!!!
Marisa
ps: Winnie is doing great she is one of our herd queens and is a little on the chubby side but that could also be since she is pregnant but I do not think she is due till at earliest Mar. 30th. How may kids did she have last year?
Thanks

My friend is trying to convince me to go with her -- I do have a window of non-kidding that weekend, but who knows how the weather will be?

Tracy you HAVE to go! I want to meet some of you SO bad! Marisa Winnie had twin doelings last year with no problems (thank goodness!) and I have gosh...13 of my own due and my mom has 5 due. Winnie's full sister Mia is kidding out this year. Brandy, Winnie's mom is first due and she is already 65" around right now and she has at least another 2+ weeks left.

Kat is one of the nicest women I've ever met. We had stalls together at the State Fair last summer and she is great. I would love to get to come to the meeting, but I will have two does ready to go then, so we'll see! I didn't know there were so many of us Oregon goat people on the board.

Cara it took me a minute to figure out who you were talking about then it hit me of course Kat. I have not met her personally but I have talked to her through e-mail and she is very nice and has very nice animals and it is tempting not to ask her to bring one to the conference so I could take one home,
she is selling some of her milkers and I would love to have one but we have too many already and I know my mom and dad would not go for it

Sorry you can't come but maybe next year?
Marisa

Marisa, how old are you? My daughter and I have been discussing how much she is going to be able to build her herd because she will be 15 in the spring and going to college at 16. I have Nubians, she has Nigerians and I'm just not sure about doing all of them.

I am 14 and will be 15 in August and that is my same plan I am going to start community collage at 16. Me and my sister are the ones that have goats( we do 4H) I raise oberhasli's and my sister raises lamanchas. Our herd has a limit of about 10(that is between both of us) but that does not count the kids going to be born and when I start collage I will probably not have to cut down since I have my sister (11 yrs old) and my mom who do not mind taking care of them. Then when my sister starts collage we will have to see what happens.
