Up on doe watch and bored.....

Took the camera out to the barn with me to check on Crystal.

Here is the doe I am watching. The first of my dairy girls to go. She's been fibbing about being in labour for two days now.

Bottle kids up to see what "mama" is doing out and about so late. I've decided on Mustang Man for the bucklings name. Don't know why....thought of it as soon as I saw his "saddle", and its stuck with me ever since.

Boer kids like to sleep under the wheels of the semi trailer. The big goats don't fit under there.....

And I sure do love seeing my big dogs sleeping with the goats. Makes me feel safe. Wish I'd had my camera earlier today, the kids were jumping all over Jill.

In the picure of Troy there is a "ghost goat" in the corner. All I see is glowing eyes and frosty ears. Your dogs look awesome, and the goats too!

great pictures, thanks for posting

I have a yearling that was due on Friday, the 4th, not showing any signs yet, although I have not been to the barn yet this morning, am waiting for the sun to arrive. I've been keeping the baby monitor on high, and jumped straight up about 3:00 a.m. when I heard some coyotes on the monitor. I am sure that shook up the goats. I have found my electric fence to be very effective against the coyotes, but they sure sounded CLOSE last night.

Everyone is looking good, Emily. Looks like they have all settled nicely into their new home. We've FINALLY finished the kidding barn. (complete with an enclosed labor/delivery room with a milkstand in it & a seperate room for the kid nursery. Yesterday we spent HOURS trying to set up the cameras (so I can sit my lazy self inside the house and just WATCH - instead of running out there every hour- it makes me cold and wide awake, after a while the does look really put out about my hourly interruptions) I've got ONE camera where I want it...but the other one is working well at all. I have it and two others (one of those is going into the nursery so I can check on the kids if they begin yelling or something) All this *high tech* lol, stuff is giving me a brain pain.. almost threw out the whole camera/reciever set yesterday and just plan on going back to my usual kidding checks...but going to give it one more try today.....
Any babies yet??? we still have about a week to tweek things and get ready...
can't wait for pictures. (what breeding is Crystal?) My first two that are due are my spotted girls. They both gave me spotted kids last year. I'm getting excited to get things underway...until then... I'll get my baby fix from your girls

Is that Miracle and her kids I see in the lounging pup pic? I was up the night before but it wasn't for my goats -- Sydney decided she couldn't sleep from 3:30 till 6! I would of much rather of been stuck with goat duty. Not that I don't love my DD....

Emily is that one of your new does??? From No Doubt herd I think??? She has such a great udder! Looks like twins to me! But then again all my long time breeders came and seen Beth last year. They all said 3 or 4. She kidded with 2 big bucklings!

Hi guys!! Getting ready for this weather kept me from updating you.
Crystal had TWIN BUCKS. My first Nubian doe to kid and of course she had twin bucks. Since they are not destined for herdsireship, she gets to keep and raise them. After the move I have limited kid space, so this year the does are feeding their own wethers. Crystal loves her boys.

Oh yeah, no ligaments, stretching, gooping......the works. But she waited until nine in the morning to actually kid.

Yeah....thats the great thing about LGDs. They are so laid back and calm until they get the wind up...then look out! The calm attitude makes the does feel safe in my opinion. See here:

Thanks. The "ghost goat" is Robin, one of my does due in February.

Hoping you get spotted kids.
Crystal is a No-Doubt doe. She is 6-7 now and was in a Boer herd for several years. It took her a bit to bounce back but she is doing well now. I bought her last May.

Yep, thats her. She and her kids are usually the only ones sleeping together. All the rest of the Boer kids pile together.

Ah, I see!! It was your twin buckling vibes that gave Crystal the idea!!
Yes, that is one of the No-Doubt does that I bought last year. She is the oldest one.
