Gretta is messing with me again

She has the choice of laying down in heavily bedded clean fresh straw or nice fluffy shavings...and were is she sleeping right now? On the cold, hard stall mat!!! So now I'm thinking she must be going into labor. She is also handing me her paw (hoof) like a dog...she has never done that before. She has never laid down on the mat before either...ugh! And of course I have to work tomorrow for the first time in 2 months. I'm frustrated and I have a feeling I won't be getting much sleep tonight...oh! And hubby is out of town and I'm alone here. I have one doe who doesn't want to be alone when she is in labor. She will pull on my clothes to get me to stay, block the door, and tap me with her foot. When it is really close she will start licking and talking. That is one out of 24 most of the others could care less. I have one more who doesn't want you anywhere around and bites like a dog. She bit a hole in more than one ear. Good luck . They pick the place they want to lay and it is never where you want them to.

Well, no babies yet. I'm getting ready for work. I have a babysitter coming at 8:30 to keep an eye on her for me while I'm gone. I'll be about 1/2 hour drive away from home and that makes me nervous but I don't see any goo or drips so I'm going. I just need to get through this day and it will be better....

Just a thought, I wouldn't let her kid in shavings, they stick to wet newborns like crazy and can get in their mouth. I like straw. Good luck, hope she holds out till you get off of work!

Well, I made it through the day...no emergencies. no babies...I'm exhausted.

We are having a warm spell here too HazyDay so I'm hoping she does go into labor one of these days. We are looking into getting a webcam...But I would actually rather spend the money on a fire alarm that alerts us in the house.

Trey, thanks for the tip on the shavings...I had heard that before and I don't have too much in there. The majority of the pen is straw. She likes to do her duty on the shavings which is nice because it's so easy to clean up then.

Well, back to goat patrol! Thanks everyone!
