9 month Angoras

I have a buck and doe Angora that I am thinking fo taking to freezer camp this week. They are both in the 60-70 lb range. When I take my sheep (Navajo Churros) I get about 60% meat back. Can I expect about that on these guys? I know they are a bit small but we need to make room for lambs in the next two months. And the buck has become very mean toward us and the his pasture mates.

I doubt you'll get much meat from Angoras. They put almost all their energy into hair growth rather than muscle growth. If you feel them they probably don't have a lot of meat under all that wool.
Sorry to hear about your buck. Angora bucks are usually pretty even tempered.

good angoras can sell for a good bit of money. I'd say your best bet might be to get that buck wethered and sell them as a pair for fiber production. Wethers sell for just as much if not more than some bucks, because even castrated they serve a purpose in fiber production. If they've been running together chances are the doe is preggo, which you can add to their sale price, too.

i agree... sell the little buggers. even if you let em go for cheap, it would probably be worth more than the small amount of meat you would get from them.
heck, i would love to come across a pair around here! can't find em anywhere...
