Did all the Nasties Today

It was a bad day, but it was a good day. We disbudded all 8 babies, and banded the 5 bucklings/
Kinda rough going, but all went well. No mishaps, no blood. A lot of hollering, but 5 minutes later all were held, snuggled, and had a nice drink of Mama's milk. A couple of the boys did a little wimpering for just a little while. We checked them to make sure no hairs were being pulled. A half hour later, all were sleeping soundly. So, it was a good day after all the nasties. All babies will be for sale in a couple of months to pet homes only.

I always dread procedures and am relieved when they are done.
Congratulations on getting them all done.

I am too! I have one buckling that we left intact. He is really nice. Black with a white topnotch and a beautiful spotted white rump. He will make someone a really nice ND buck. All kids are Pygmy/ND crosses. A friend of mine came over and did everything herself! She's done them for 30+ years. Just puts their head between her knees, holds back their ear, and its done quick. She just charges $5.00 per kid. Can't beat that!

I am drending the coming days I need to do our first kids. I still don't have the nerve to do my doelings, but I did do some bucklings and they would have turned out fine but I forgot to let the iron heat up again so well they all grew these little 2 inch horns. I may try another goat raiser to help me this year.
