Working Pyrs available

We are dispersing our goat herd for traveling purposes and are looking for working homes for our 2 full blooded Great Pyrs. Brother and sister, 18 mos old, Born 6-14-06. One male and one female, both fixed. They have been raised with goats, horses, and cats, sometimes the dogs are apart, sometimes together. Up to date on rabies, vaccines, and worming. They can go to separate homes. Very friendly and in great health. Without the goats to guard, I think they would be very bored and not working off their food bill! They get along with our border collies, but are not kept together with them. (The border collies would love to be in with the goats' pasture!)
We are in Northwest Montana and will consider meeting someone out of our area. Please make offer, discount for both. Pics available by email.

I'm planning on a llama, but out of curiosity what would you consider a fair price?

I think $175 each is fair because we paid to have them spayed/neutered, they've been working since they were born, we paid for their shots and care, and raising up a great pyr puppy costs alot of expensive puppy food if you buy a high quality food, which we did for their whole first 15 months of puppy food. (They eat alot of puppy food to get to be 130 lbs in a year!) Now we buy high quality adult dog food and they are healthy. To get our investment back would cost about $600 each.

$175 for a fixed grown working Pyr is a steal. Do you have pictures that we could see??

Thank you! I'll get them together from my other computer. Some I might have to send tomorrow, I can't remember how big they were when I took my last pics.

Pictures of April Rain's Pyrs for sale. These dogs are Boris and Jill's pups that I sold her in 2006. She did a great job on them from what I can see!

My posting on the cattle forum musta got deleted.

I have one spayed female Pyr that's an indoor-outdoor dog that keeps everything within a mile or more away from our place. Of course, she works with her ChowChow-Retriever Cross to do that! [I know her territory's larger than that, cuz sometimes she's off for a couple of days.] She's the MOST wonderful dog. I've had her nearly three years now.

Have yours been cleared for hip dysplasia?

We live near the Nez Perce Res. about 1.5 hrs. drive SE of Lewiston, Idaho, 8.5 miles from Hwy.12, so you couldn't be all that far from us in NW Mt.

$175 is VERY reasonable. I paid $200 for Sissy, but she cost the former owner $180 for her spaying. Wouldn't sell her w/o that.

Do yours have the haircoat that sheds mud and leaves a dustpile on the floor where they dried off? Bet they collect a LOT of the flora in their fur!!! Sis needs brushing about every day, if but a little. Seems she collects what some call "field lice" or "beggars' lice" ...I call them the prototype for Velcro!

Thanks for getting the pix up where we can see them. They're gorgeous!

lol! I agree with the "poor man's lice" but it cockaburs that are the bane of my pyr(X). poor thing, I've gotten to where I just take a razer blade and hack them off in the summer. the razer makes the cut look more "natural"

They were checked out by the vet when I took them in for spaying & neutering and she said they had good hips. They do not have a hip certificate from the breeder, but they are very sound. They have a thick outer coat that sheds most things they pick up, and a soft insulating undercoat. During the summer, I have one in the 1 acre pasture and the other in the corral next to the barn. They don't get very dirty cause they don't run the woods. In winter, both are in the corral because it has a nice shelter and the pasture doesn't, so all the animals are moved close in.
I still can't see pics, must be something about my computer. But since the dogs & pics are mine, I know what they look like!
I live near Hwy 200 along the Clark Fork River between Missoula, MT and Sandpoint, Idaho. We go to Couer D'Alene, ID and Spokane, WA fairly frequently. Hubby headed out there today.

I can see the pics just great

This is a very good deal, as getting a dog fixed at our vet will cost you from $150.oo-220.oo for a large breed. When we got our male cat fixed it all cost $105.oo. So really you are paying for the fixing not the dog!!!

Has anyone ever clipped their LGD's?? I know a sheep breeder who had one always clipped them when the sheep got sheared.

I would like to send them with their goats that I am selling to make the transition great for everyone. I am selling my 3 foundation stock from my "Reg Boer" post as well as my horse, mule, and pony. I put a low price on the dogs in hopes they would go to working homes. They have not been housetrained, as they were bought solely for guarding the goats and horses. I live remotely, so it is hard to get a true market price for any animals here. And since Pyrs are in alot of rescues, I don't want my dogs to end up there. These are great dogs and shouldn't go to a rescue situation. I am not selling them for problems with them. I want them to work and I am getting rid of the other animals because we are traveling alot with our business and I have to pay top dollar to get someone to feed them properly. If they don't have animals to guard, they might start getting into trouble. Dogs that run loose in our area are shot and never seen again. I had hired a full time farm hand last year that didn't care for our farm properly and we wasted a huge amount of money on him, then had to spend our time and more money fixing what he had let go. So I am finished trying to find proper farm help and we have too much work on our hands. Right now we have zero down time because our off time from business is spent on our farm. I see it taking a toll on my husband's health and our kids' family time and after another year, I've decided it is a poor time in our lives to do this. I hope to return to it someday, at least now I know what it takes and will not be on a learning curve. If anyone would like to get the goats and dogs together, I buy only high quality animals and am in a hurry to sell before our traveling season kicks in within a couple more weeks, so they will have remarkable prices and you can't find that for this quality!

I really with I could help you out. Aside from the fact I would love them for my goats but unfortionately that is a bit too far. I will ask some friends who live in that area if they are interested.
