Mine will venture out in the rain if they decide they are hungry and I'm not coming to feed them. Most of the time, though, the first sprinkle sends them running for the barn.

I'm wondering how those big herds used for clearing brush deal with rain. It would be a lot of work to build or even move enough shelter to give a large herd shelter from the rain.

My alpines would act like it was acid falling on them but I've seen my nubians browse in light rain like it didn't matter.

My Nubians won't go out in the rain even if it is just a light one, but if it has been raining for more then a day they will head right up and stay eatting even if it is just light raining!

I can hear mine yelling "I'm melting! I'm melting!" whenever it starts to rain.

Thank you for posting the photo and comments. I thought I had the only goats who were of the opinion that rain was fatal. I was recently told that they are too spoiled, this posts prooves that they are not!!

The aspect that I find most amusing about goats and bad weather is the way they stare and yell at me accusingly. It seems they think that i control the weather and they are quite put out with me over it!

No, you aren't the only one, LOL! It only took me a second to realize why I wasn't seeing goats in your picture! Mine don't like to walk in snow, either, although the two I have now (mostly Ober) don't seem to mind as much as the Kinders did.
