Demodectic Mange?

I belive we have a goat with Demodectic Mange. It gets large cysts on it's head and neck. I have checked and dont belive it is CL. Most cysts are not in common CL areas. Does anyone have an idea on how to treat this? Ivermectin?
Thanks Paul

Ivomec works great for mange, but Ive never heard of mange causing cysts. Its usually itching and a red rash with hair loss from scratching.
The cysts could be from a secondary infection, so you should use a topical antibiotic also

It's usually pretty simple to diagnose mange with a skin scraping. Mange mites are present on 99.9% of animals, including that dog on your couch. They live in the hair follicles. If an animal is showing signs of demodicosis, it's usually due to a poorly functioning immune system. Mange causes hair loss, and sometimes skin infections, not cysts. Myself, I would get a confirmed diagnosis before I started treating something I haven't confirmed yet.

I know some one will correct me if I'm wrong, but this just doesn't sound like mange.

Definitely, do a skin scraping and get a good diagnosis. If your vet is not up on goat skin diseases, ask him/her to do a consult with Dr.Susan McClanahan at the U of MN. She is a caprinespecialist and has seen a lot of goat dermalogical cases.
