Welcome Mariposa! There's lots of helpful people on this board that are more than willing to offer advice when needed.
What kind of goats do you have? I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!
Lois

Welcome, Mariposa. I really enjoy the people on this board, and have benefitted many times from the good advice from all the experienced goatkeepers here.

I have Nubians, LaManchas and miniature Alpines.

What are your plans for the ND x Pygmy crosses?

NeHi

Welcome Mariposa. I have Nigerian Dwarf goats, too. May I ask why you will be breeding them with Pygmy's?

Hi Mariposa, I am new too and this forum has been FABULOUS for me! I have a pygmy named Gretta. She is bred to a Nigerian Dwarf and due to deliver any time now...but I have been saying that for 3 weeks! My first advice is...if you breed make sure you know the day it happens so you can get an accurate due date. This has been extremely stressful not knowing. We were told she would kid in Nov/Dec. Welcome!!!!

I was wondering the same thing
The pygmy and/or cross bred market is horrible here in WI. Most of the people I know who had pygmy's ended up almost giving them away, because no one was buying.

I'm intrigued too. What do you hope to accomplish by this cross? I understand Pygmies already have great milk, even though they are a flesh/pet animal and NDs don't need any help in the milk department. I can't see any advantages in conformation, either. Do tell!

Welcome! I'm in Northcentral Wisconsin and raise Nigerians and Mini-manchas. You'll learn a great deal here! Great group.

I agree with Jordan, the pygmy market sucks in Wisconsin. Even if your nigies are grade (non-registered) you would be better off to keep them "pure" grades and not cross them to pygmies.

There is only a handful of us in Wisconsin raising quality, registered, health tested Nigerians (and I'm the only mini mancha breeder I know of!) and the market is good in state, as well as selling out of state, which Jordan and myself do as well. Pygmies are a dime a dozen and I've seen lots to give away.

Best wishes with your endeavor!
