All Bucks

We had 2 more bucks born today - so far our count is 1 doeling and 5 bucklings. We were hoping for a few doelings to keep - but! We've got 4 more does due soon and probably 2 between Jan and Feb - hopefully they'll give us some girls.

Gee whiz, that's a huge ratio of boys to girls. Hope you get some fine girls soon.

Just got a set of girls!!!! Now the ratio is 5 bucklings and 3 doelings. Got a solid red doeling tonight. They're Boers and our buck is known to throw color. We're soooooo happy with the girls!!!!

They are very cute. We had 7 boys and 1 girl born. Two of the bucks are chocolate so it might be ok.

Cute babies. I'm glad you got some doelings. With Boers, I never minded having a few bucklings, however. You always have to sell some, and those chunky wethers bring good money to buy feed for the herd.

Read up again on timing when you have the buck in. If you get better at recognizing the first days each doe is back in season, you can raise the percentage of does somewhat. Late in the doe's cycle leans towards bucklings. Sue

Sue, that is interesting. In people, early in the cycle = boys.
