Miracle did it first!

I went out to the barn a while ago and this was in progress:

Miracle did it first! - Goats

Miracle did it first! - Goats

This is the picture I took of her just three hours before that:

Miracle did it first! - Goats

Christie, the doeling has no paint on her.....though one of the bucklings has painted legs.

She was huge - just like last year!
Ohh they are to cute -- all have colored heads! The one with the marked legs reminds me of Martin. And isn't she a great momma? Look at that udder - is she letting all three nurse? They all look to be good size as well. Ahh - I am so jealous. Maybe once I finally figure out what I am doing and what kind of market I have up for goats I will be able to get a Boer again..........
Didn't she beat out Cherry last year too if I recall correctly? I am sure the labor vibes are going now!

This doe was due no earlier than the 25th(thats the earliest she could have been due because of the date I put Junior with them), but she decided to go early for me. Big Mama is due the 25th.....I didn't have a due date on this one as I didn't see the breeding.

Emily, do you know what is crazy? We have a Boer doe who is a 3 year old, second kidder who is just as big as her! And she isn't due till FEB 28!! All my other does are due around that time and arn't as big!! I worry that she will have 6 kids! But if they were all bucklings then we would have some pile of meat in the fall!!! But some pile of my milk would go into them!!

Christie, they are all pretty big, I was surprised. She was feeding them all just fine, but the bigger bucklings kept pushing the doeling out of the way, so I pulled one buckling off and am making him a bottle kid. I need the doeling to grow well, as I have several orders for doelings.
I think she did kid before Cherry last year. Looks like this is the year to kid early. Beauty is looking like she may go today or tomorrow(actually fooled me into thinking she was in labour last night and kept me up half the night ), and she isn't due until the 28th. Big Mama is still crossing her legs.

What a pleasant way to spend Christmas Eve - in and out of the barn! At least you know all of you know they are going to kid at some point.
This not knowing if they are PG is driving me mad! I haven't seen any more chasing or trying to mate since the begining of Dec with Cassie. But since they finished the round and with the off and on wetness I can't move a new one in they don't have those nice hay bellies that had me hopeful! I am feeding the oat hay 2x a day. I am afraid I will have to buy a doe in milk late winter so I we have milk!
I hope to see more cute little boer pics soon!

Congrats, Emily - they look great! We don't have our first does due until about a month from now - starting to get into the baby mood!
