Goat Sadness

Well I met a "nice" lady that has French Alpine goats and decided on buying one of her girls to add to my herd, left a deposit with the understanding that I would pick my girl up after she was bred.

Well my husband called to set up pick up and the "nice" lady said.... Oops I sold her to someone else!!! WHAT???

I am disappointed to say the least. Why is it so hard to find and buy good dairy goats? Why are so many people so flaky? I have found it so hard to find and buy good quality goats...

Did she give you back you deposit?

She probably got a higher price from the other person.

I am so sorry to hear that. I hate it when people do not stay true to their word.
Look at it this way, for some reason it was not meant to be. Maybe she was CL or CAE positive. Who knows. Keep looking, the right one will happen.

I agree, I bet someone offered her more money. That is a shame. I sold one of my does, and I still had her on my website. Someone offered me double the amount the other lady paid. NOPE, she was sold so it was never even a thought to resell her. I am just waiting for her to kid. If she has a doe I get it, but if it is a buck the lady that bought her gets him for free.
I hope you got your money back

Wow, that stinks. If you wouldn't mind sharing via PM, I'd sure like to find out who it was that stiffed you. She did give your deposit back I hope?

Since you are in Colorado, let me refer you to Jonathan Bland. He has gorgeous goats ( I have a lot of them, lol) and is very, very honest. His website is http://www.angelfire.com/co3/pearlvalleyalpines/ He has both French and American Alpines, girls that have shown well at the national level and Top Ten milkers.

Well she does still have our deposit due to having offered us a different doe. I really wanted the doe I wanted so she says she will give us back the deposit.

I do not know if it was a money issue or what, but I to wish folks would just keep thier word. She had my numbers so if she wanted more money than we agreed on she could have at least called me.

Thank you, Tracy I will contact him. He lives very close to me.

I know this will work out for the best and I will find the girl/girls that are best for me...

I sure wish you lived closer. I raise lamanchas but I have one registered French Alpine that my mom bought me for my birthday. I dont have a buck for her. As much as I enjoy her (she's the size of a minihorse and has an interesting personality, though I'm not sure everyone would appresiate it as much as me) I wish she could be a part of a herd with other alpine, where she is an asset, instead of "the odd goat out". grin.

I would be MAD AS GUESS at that "nice" woman!!! But I have to agree, that goat wasnt meant for you, and in a couple of weeks a MUCH better goat will appear in your life. That's what happened to me when I had a similarly annoying experience!

GOOD LUCK!!!

What a bummer!

I wouldn't take the other doe out of principle. She will learn where these kind of business practices get her.

I would not take another doe from her. She had a contract with you - just because it is not in writing does not make it fine for her to breach it. I would ask for my deposit back and move on. I know you will find a good doe. So sorry this did not work out for you though. Depressing, I know.

A persons word, name and character are everything. Many of us live in areas where handshake deals are still respected and those who break promises are soon found out.
