Sniffing doe heads

Is anyone trying that again this year, or was it a myth? I have 6 heads to sniff. Of course, I want bucklings (happy freezer campers!) so I'm sure to get a bumper crop of doelings.

It only worked one one doe, and she smelled like a buck from day one! Everyone esle smelled like goats and they all had bucklings What about trading all your does for all my bucks! That would make us both happy!

I started that thread last year. A breeder had told me it worked for her every time.
Quite a few people on two forums tried sniffing & posting their predictions.
There was no correlation between the buckiness of a doe's head and the number of bucks she had.

Another old wives' tale down the drain!

I do it for fun......... It worked on all my does last year, however like mentioned if you smell Buck it does not indicate how many bucks, or if they just smell like goat how many does. For example On one doe she was strong Buck smelling and she kiddded with trip. Bucks. others smelled faint Buck and had twins buck and Doe but the buck was born first. So ya for fun I do it ...hey what the heck we all do strange things.........

OH YEA, I forgot about this. Thanks for reminding me. It was 100% right on last year. (I am sure that it is all luck but hey, it is fun).

I'm beginning to think that there may be a need for a GSA (goat sniffers anonomous) group for those who become addicted. As for me, I have enough addictions, and I prefer the anticipation of not knowing what we're going to get.

Well, 1 dairy gal smells doe-y, one smells slightly bucky; but my Boer doe--whoo-eeeyy! I'm hoping for a buckling to go with that smell.
