Is she pg?

I have a doe kid I got in September (she is a feb.kid) was not suppose to
be bred. But I am thinking she looks preg.
The breeder said that she was in heat about two weeks before I got her(I thought I was going to breed her but decided not to) and I have not seen any heat signs but I have not been looking and her pen did line up with the buckling pen.

I want to know what you all think so here is a pic. Bred or not?
sorry there is only one pic my computer is not being very nice

Ehh...it is hard to tell she looks like she MIGHT be bred as her vulva is swollen and the slit is longer. My kids don't look like that and they are not pregnant. I would draw blood and send it in to make double sure she is either preggo or not preggo but thats me.

I have a kid who I need to do that on also as she might have gotten bred to my buck (didn't want it but oh well she is a Feb. kid also so it won't hurt her). How far along would she be if she was bred? That would help more in my guessing.

Justine
ps: How is Winnie doing?

I found the date the breeder gave me and it looks like she would be due Feb. 16th.
I am sorry to say I have not learned to draw blood yet but when I saw the vet do it it did not look that hard, I guess there is no better time to learn.

Her barrel looks like it is bigger then when I first got her but maybe I am just imagining it.
Winnie is fine, she is very spoiled, she is Pg I think she is due March 30th but I would have to look at my dates.

Thanks Marisa

Can you get a body shot of her from behind? It will help me guess more...looking I am tempted to say yes. Is she getting any udder on her? If she is due Feb. 16th she might start getting some udder on her. Not much but some. My mom has a doe who is due Feb 13th and she is getting some udder.

Start trying to feel for kids also. She is just over 3 months and by three months you can start feeling for kids.

Going by her vulva and how her belly looks I tentatively say yes she is. If she was my doe I would go by the assumption that she is indeed bred.

I know with my kids they have been cycling like clock work even this month so since my girls are about the same age as your doe and you are close to me and you say she hasn't cycled I would say again tentatively she is pregnant. You will know for sure in the next month or so as she starts to get a udder on her. And you will DEFINITELY know she is pregnant by Feb 16th .

Well I went and felt her this morning and there is a little udder about the size of a small orange. That means she was bred at 7 months old.

Her is a back view:

Marisa, Yes she is Bred. I go by the butt pictures. She is for sure. I had a doe two years ago kid a day before she turned one. She will be fine. Just try to be around so you can help. I had to help my doe because the baby was breach. I also had one last year kid a month before she was a year old. She was JUST FINE at night and the next morning she had a beautiful little doe born.

I will try and be there for sure, I have another doe due on the 20th so I guess I will have to build another kidding pen or should I say my dad will.

I e-mailed the breeder and she said the only buck that could have bred her was one that was a late buckling and was still on his mom and running with the herd at the time, and he has great blood lines so I least she did not get bred to one of her goats on there way to the butcher that was in the pen next to hers.

Thanks Marisa

Marisa, is it at all possible that she was bred through the fence? Was she that close to a fence with another buck, the one that is going to butcher? If she was that is possible also.
How old was the buckling that she was running with?

He was 2 1/2 months at the time, so he was plenty old I think. and now that I think about it they don't share a fence line with the bucklings headed for the butcher they share a hay feeder.
Is there anything I should do for her since she is so young?
I have been giving her grain with the rest of my kids not much but some should I stop and wait till she is closer to her due date?

Thanks Marisa

I would say with her getting a udder, plus her stomach pics, PLUS her back end pics then yep she is preggers . I will let someone else answer about the feed thing as I don't breed my girls that young so I am not sure.

Yeah, I started having suspicions about a 2 weeks ago when she was getting rounder and if I had decided to breed her it would have been next month at the earliest.

Thanks Marisa
