Doe heat in Jan?

I just got a really lovely registered Nubian doe on Dec. 1. She went into heat on Dec. 3 (I know because my La Mancha just came back from the breeders and she couldn't understand why this goat that smelled like a buck wasn't breeding her!) So, I am expecting her to go into heat again Dec. 21-26. The two normal people I use for breeding are out of town for the holiday. Do most goats have a heat in January too so I could get her bred then? Just wasn't sure if they stop cycling in Dec. or Jan. Also, what month do they start to cycle again? Thank you!

Tiffany

Far enough south and yes you will have a heat in January and maybe early Feburary. Then they don't cycle without a buck in the pen with them until July. Vicki

I was having these same concerns as I have a young buckling who will be a year in March. It's my first round of breedings and I have had him in with them since October! The last time I saw him mount was the end of October although he was chasing Cassie the first part of this month. Other than that I haven't seen anything. So I am hoping at least one is bred. He is still in with them 24/7......

My Oregon lamanchas will cycle through January and into February (as per my July kids last year).

Our Togg had her kid in June last year (we are in Wyoming), indicating a January breeding. We are aiming for that again this year.

i had june kids last year and a breeder in NY had august kids. it is not very common for late kids i guess.
i guess it depends on the blood lines.

Our neighbor girl here in northern PA breeds her does in January or later and always has summer kids.
