First snow of winter

We got a couple of inches yesterday, when i did chores-everything that was born, hatched from this spring on-refused to even "step" in it. Two spring kids, in 2 different areas-screamed from the shelters while the adults ventured to the hay bales. When i fed the chickens-the pullets looked out the door-then rushed back in! Silly, silly "juviniles!

Tennessee got a dusting today, just adding more moisture to the muck around the barnyard. All summer I complained about the drought, now it seems to rain every other day....Can't win, go figure.

To cold for anyone here to stick noses out. Our goats decided to stay in the barn today since the winds where hitting winds speeds at 70mph at times an the wind is so COLD.. Yesterday evening was rain today very windy COLD and snow flying around. The mother hen that has 3 little chicks is sitting on top of them in the other building for chickens. Thankful for finally getting the much needed rain we need but the COLD wind we can do without.. The snow here is finally starting to stick more to everything so tonight is going to be dangerous for driving...

Hooboy. We have had several feet of snow already. It's going to ba a typical Vermont winter, after a couple of very "dry" ones, snowwise.

The last really snowy winter we had, we had just gotten our Golden Retreiver. He was born in late November. When Spring finally sprang, the huge piles of snow began to melt.

As more and more ground was revealed, we began to realize that Cody was searching for ever shrinking spots of snow to whiz on...

He had never peed on anything but snow!

Some dogs are paper trained. Ours was snow trained.

We told him he better pee on the dirt, or else it was going to be a loooooong Summer!
