Found goat kids...

... both of them. One buckling and one ??????? were apparently born some time ago, as there is nothing left but bone. a little meat and hide... and very little of all three!

My son, going out to chase coyotes from the barn, found these two just over the hill next to a large, downed, white oak, and wouldn't have seen them hadn't he been sitting on it waiting for the coyote to go by (it was in an unused section of the barn trying to get a turkey dinner). He got it by the way!

Not a very good start to kidding season, but does explain why the doe was so far over due! The part I don't get is she still looks pregnant, complete with bag, belly, and all... what's this all about?

Foregive me if I sound confused, but I am!! I'd of expected at least some hip bones sticking out, but nothing about her looks like she's kidded, and no other doe is even due for at least four weeks!

Any thoughts?

Is it possible the remains are from a previous undetected kidding? There was the remains of a road killed coon in my ditch for an entire year until my dog decided it smelled too good to leave laying around.

if you see your does every night/morning you would have noticed "stuff" hanging out, gunk on the back end, and/or a noticeably smaller/skinner doe. if the doe in question has had kids before and taken care of them, she would have been out there day and night screaming for her kids to "follow her" or "come to momma".
