WOW..humongous kids..any ideas?

Well, the girls finally kidded..lol..they were waiting for an ice storm I guess. Everyone got along okay. Lost one nice kid, just missed being there to help her.

I have a question..is anyone else having does run long? Is anyone else having HUGE kids? These kids are tanks coming out. I am using a son of Micky (Countryhaven now owns him) out of a 50/50 nubie/boer doe. It's his first crop of kids.

I liked how Wyatt Urp looked when he was a kid. But I had no idea he would throw this big of kids. I am hoping its the year or something. The girls had NO grain. Only grass and hay while they were gestating. I had a single little buckling out of a wee little ff doeling that is a hair taller and is heavier than the two bucks that were born 2 wks earlier. Squid, a brother to Wyatt was their dad.

Any thoughts on these huge kids?

Hope all is well with everyone and all the winter storms. Thanks!

LOL..I didn't weigh them. But I have been doing this for a while and this is my third buck, albeit he is the only one that wasn't a pureblood reg. boar. My first buck, Barge, is the dad to all the dams as a sire or grandsire. Micky is on one doe and the sire of Wyatt.

The other two bucks we used were huge..you can see Micky at CountryHaven's website of the same name. Wyatt is not that impressive, I just liked how he was put together.

We have had some large kids before..but not every kid. Every kid from Wyatt is enormous and Squids kids are regular type kids.

Most were born during the ice storm..since eating was priority over everything else..I wanted to make sure everyone ate before leaving them. I had to put them on their knees or sit them on their butts to reach their moms. I have never had to do that before..ever. So, even though I do not have "weights" I know a big kid when one is born.

Since we pasture breed, I don't know how many days the girls carried them. That's why I was asking whether or not other people's does are "hanging on" to them a bit longer. My breeding stock are all old hands here, the buck being the only new things and the one ff doeling.

Thanks.
