I bought some Valbazen from my vet to worm my goats for lungworm this fall. Fleet Farm sells it too but the size they sell would last me 30 years.

I have no idea if it's safe for a pregnant doe.

why do you think you need to treat your doe for lung worm?

She is coughing - dry cough( not too often though-i don't hear it everyday), no fever, no discharge - the vet checked her out, but his vet tech is the one that called me back afterwards and she said he said that may be it - but she couldn't tell me anything about a wormer. Also with liver flukes, i've been having bloodwork done on my buck, and he has kinda puzzled my vet, whom said it could be off due to liverflukes ( among a couple other things ). Thanks !

My goats cough a dry cough too. Usually it's just a single cough so I don't worry too much. They have been wormed with Valbazen 2x on a 10 day interval this fall.

cough can have several reasons. this time of season the goats are more insidewhere is can be dusty from hay and straw. i would not worry too much.
liverfluce needs to be taken seriously. did your vet do a fecal check?
you can worm with ivermectin plus if she is three month or longer pregnant. i use 1cc per 50# bodyweight given orally. repeat 14 day later. this should take care of lung worms if she should have them.

Middle River, I'd wait till they kid it's not that far away (time wise). Why take any risks if it's unnecessary. Worming the freshened doe is commonplace the day of freshening so why not just wait...

Good point topside - if she isn't in danger then i will wait. My buck on the other hand is old and has been having health issues and i would like to worm him just in case for liver flukes - which i haven't wormed for before. Thanks !!!

Lung damage from a previous pneumonia can also cause a persistent dry cough. It almost sounds like a smoker's cough, with a wheeze or groan thrown in. I have a 4 1/2 year old doe who had pneumonia (among other issues) when I bought her at the sale barn. She wants garlic, zinc and mints when her cough is really bad.

Most wormers will work on lungworms. Check the label. Liver flukes need a swampy area and some snails to complete their life cycle, so only goats grazing snail infested areas will pick up liver flukes. With G.T.'s age, it's heard to know where he has been. Ivermectin Plus has an extra ingredient for liver flukes.
