Question Any good name themes out there for this crop?

Last year I let my 7-year old choose the theme; we got fair food. I want a change this year-I got sick of fair food....any thoughts out there? We've got boers. I thought a play on the word goat or boer or buck or doe, but am brain-dead tonight. I'd appreciate some imported creativity!

"Fair"- the other 4 letter F word." This epiphany came after almost 10 days straight at our county fair.

For naming in my herd I use a very weird way, that only came to me after I looked back at the names!

Here is my way-
Herd Name + Anything that happened + Barn name = a very long name!

Here is a few examples-

Hazy Day Midnight Madness Spirit ~~and~~ Hazy Day Lucky Chance.

As for the herdname, I got it because when I got my first goat it was a very very Hazy Day.

Middle part-
Midnight = I came from from a party at 12am and checked on mom and she diddn't look ready at all!
Madness = well this buckling was born in -24C weather (-11F!!!) and it was pure madness trying to get them to come around!
Lucky = it really diddn't have alot to do with luck it had all to do with God screaming at mom to get out of bed and not sleep in, as if she did we would have a popstickle nubian bucklings!!!

Barn names

Spirit = because both mom and I believe it was the Spirit of God that for one told mom to get up and because it was from him that kept me claim and knowing what to do.

Chance = my best breeder friend had a Boer buck named Chance that she sold that summer and missed him so much!

So these 2 bucks both carry a long story! The first thoughts they were to have the name Mocha in it as their dams name is "Country Dream Mocha's Faith." but all I could some up with is names that would be good if some one wanted to eat them!!

Now to the 2 does I have named and kept!

Hazy Day Lily of the Valley.

well see I did name her "of the valley" as we live in the valley of Apohaqui (ya ya ya bet you havn't seen such a weird name ) But that day at school we were talking about this girl who is a huge S***K (just guess!) Well that was the only name I would think of when she was born!

Hazy Day Sweet As Sugar Anastaica

Anastaica as she was a hot girl I knew (hehehe!) and "Sweet As Sugar " because Sugar was the first goat I had ever had! hence the email (got2have_sugar@hotmail.com)

Thats it! I alreadly have all my 2008 names picked out! But im not gonna say them and end up with all bucks agian this year!

I have a lot of Spanish names--Diego, Guapo, Pancho, Gabriella, Graciella Buttercup, Isabella Goatelini, and Carlita Pepita Rosita Conchita.

Our last name is Bean, so at least one doeling will be named Jelly.

A few at the place I used to work were Larry, Daryl and Daryl. Also had Nanny The Party Goat! She was supposed to be butchered and eaten, but was much more fun as a party mascot

Slightly OT but, we named a litter of puppies after Wyoming town names - Afton, Moose, Kaycee, Cheyenne, Lingle etc. You could pick a new state every year, and just use names from that state. If you do this for more than 50 years (lol) there are more than enough names to start any state over again and never duplicate a name.

Our you could do countries, continents, rivers, famous cities, just Capitols, or even counties. Our some unique combination of place and object/name - China Rose, Hungarian Penny, Springfield Dan - you get the idea.

I have also seen where people have used the alphabet - one leter a year, candy, candy bars, sports teams, players from a team, flowers and ice cream flavors.

As far as something catchy, I am not so good at that - takes me a while.

Good luck,
Anne

We did country music stars last year (one kid is named Carrie Underwood...the rest got single names: Naomi, Wynona, June, etc.)

We don't plan to raise any kids this year, but if we keep any, I want 70s and 80s sitcom names: Mrs. Garrett, Weezie, Laverne, Shirley...)

We'll let the buyers name the kids, so we think we'll name the girls "doe" names (dough names) in the interim, until they get homes...
pie doe, pizza doe, bread doe... until we run out and then go REALLY stupid: win doe, play doe...

Daisy and Lily already had their names but we named our buck - Buckwheat.

We did name Fred and Wilma. Fred is a Wether.

Then we have Houdini - who was named for obvious reasons.

I've named the kids after the doe's names, following a 'theme'.

Bluegrass has had, Sonata and Song. Her buckling this year will most likely be registered, as Little Boy Blue. Song had twin doelings - Melody and Harmony.

We stick with names that start with the first letter of the current ADGA tattoo sequence.

Yeah, find X names - you have boers, don't you? That's the 2008 letter. Okay, bad idea. For 2007 (our X year), we relented and did "flowers" instead. But none with W or Y.

This year is Y for ADGA.

Candy bars
Flowers
Movies
Sports teams

boy can I relate to this dilemma

we've done:

other animals; groundhog, Litl' Deer, lizard, frog, moose, skunk, beaver
the alphabet; you can use this one for years, A's, B's, etc
food; apple, the nut boys, squash, pumpkin (which lead into pies the next year!)
family surnames; beede, sleeper, dolphin, jester, fisher, herring (all real surnames!)
objects; wingnut, anchor bolt, toggle switch, rotobin
names of friends
a lot have been named; meatball :1pig:
music; crash, ride (cymbals), bass clef

sometimes I feel our names are ridiculous, but you try to name 300 kids
