PREGGO advice sought
My wonderful Grand Champion percentage doe, Caramel, is due to kid either this week or her next cycle which would be the last week after Christmas day. She is huge and has had a problem with a loose bladder when lying down, laying down. Anyhoo, her wet back end has created a moist environs and an irritated tailhead and vulva. One side of her vulva almost looked like it had a whitish "athlete's foot" ick on it. I've started washing her back end down with a mild betadine wash and rinse and dry and coating the area with a mild iodine ointment, which seems to be working. Today, I notice that while she is massive, she seems to be losing condition. Usually she is glossy and thick-coated, even this pregnant. Today as I sat with her, her coat is looking a little rough and not as thick as usual. Her backbone seems a little bit prominent, but maybe I'm just being paranoid. She is on a really good quality dry-farmed alfalfa/grass hay, 3rd cutting. She is eating fine, but is obviously uncomfortable. I am wondering if supplementing with a dry COB or other grain mix would be called for. Last year I did no supplementing prior to kidding and she was fine, but only had a single. Can I worm her with ivomec + at this point in her pregnancy? I usually worm the day they freshen, and bo-se the kids. She's had her cd/tet and bo-se shots on November 23rd. I just have a gut feeling that something is up.
