Can anyone tell me what breed I have here?
Lilly Bell was given to us by a family that I babysit for.... she was originally purchased as an Easter gift for a 5 year old (2 1/2 years ago)..... after Lilly "grew up" the child lost intrest..... They had no idea what to do with her.... I offered to take her, so here she is.... I've had her since April (If my memory serves me correct....  )
I was not raised on a farm.... Dh and I started our little homestead about 3 years ago with our first bull calf...... We now own 18 cattle, currently have 2o dairy heifers that we raise for a farmer, 17 chickens, cats, rabbits, dogs, and of course Lilly.....
I would love to breed her.... But as I said I am new to this, and would love all the help anyon could give..... Is it best to send her somewhere to breed, A-I, or buy a boy goat(see this tells you how new I am to this.... I don't even know what to call them..... LOL).....

Hard question. She doesn't really resemble any dairy breed. I'm guessing maybe a Boer cross or a Spanish meat goat? How big is she?
Definitely try to find someone nearby with a buck that will let you breed her, for a fee. If you want to have a dairy goat, breed to a dairy buck. If you want meat goats, breed to a meat buck.
One doe isn't nearly enough to justify keeping a buck. AI is very expensive and complicated.

She looks % dairy. She has to have Boer in her and im thinking Saanen. She could just be thin.

She doesn't look thin at all to me. Dairy boer is my guess also, likely saanen/boer. She's nice. IF you can't find a buck to bring home and breed her to, than buy one, eat him or sell him. Then think about for this spring, buying yourself a young buck to use on her and her daughters you will have 
Does she have single teats on each side? If you just want meat kids than of course find a meat buck in the spring. If you want to milk, than find a dairy buck, with her coloring and ears, go swiss or LaMancha...please don't breed her to a Nubian Airplane ears that then go forward are just awful! Vicki

Yes she has just single teats on each side...... I did e-mail the people that gave her to me, to see if they know what breed she is.....
the big headed photo I actually took with my cell phone.... I wanted a cute pic on my phone, she came running when I called and that's what I ended up with.... LOL....

My goats with "airplanes ear that go forward" actually love them!!! I've thought about starting a new breed here in S. La with goats like that-they use them like sunglasses and fly protectors-seems pretty cool to me!! (smile).
Love the little goat and I agree, dairy/boer mix-I've had a couple like that-although mine never grew very big, they were excellent mothers and raised some nice babies.

I'm thinking a Boer/Saanan mix and she may surprise you with her milk producing capability. I've got a cross like this and she produces a abundance of milk and raises some great fast growing kids.
See if you can find someone local to lend you a buck temporarily.

She looks like a Saanen/Boer cross to me. If there is a buck in your area that you can use (and he's healthy and CL free) I'd go that way. If not, you could always buy a buck and then put him in the freezer if you don't want to keep him. She's a cute goat
Hey, Vicki - don't go dissing those airplane ears. My Snubian, Miracle earned a dry leg and went BOB at a show last summer. She's also my herd queen. Yeah, they are goofy looking, but she makes up for it in her dairy character and sweet disposition.
