Llama Cria-pictures

After the long wait, our Cria is here.

I was told when I got her that she was due in November...she was cutting it close, she had this little guy on the 30th. It turns out to be a male.

Cute little bugger though!

How do you guys get them castrated and at how old? I will get him done, I was just wondering if its a vet only?

Here are the pictures:

Aww, he's a wooly little bugger! Cute!

I think I may have read somewhere that you dont have to castrate them unitl they are like 6 months..... a year, maybe? You're gonna wanna check up on that, though, cause I definitly dont know for sure.

Melissa, look on the CLRC. (www.clrc.ca under members and pedrees.) and find a breeder near you. They should know. Let me know if you can find some one I do know some one near me who would be happy to answer your questions!

He's cute. My friend used to raise llamas and she said they get castrated at 18 months old and a vet has to do it. It's also important to halter train him early and give him lots of attention or thay can be pretty wild and hard to handle.

Adorable. Yes handle him often. I am overwintering two adult male llamas here and theyare only tolerable of me if I have food. I can not put a halter on the or hold them in any way. I just hope they do not get hurt to where the vet needs to come out cause they would be out of luck.
