Who all here gives their goats apple cider vinegar in their drinking water?
Why asking because like to know how much to add in drinking water an do you all give it everday?
Thanks.

Never ever, two many goats I guess. My girls are living at the Topside Hilton now... Come on what’s the cider for? What's next, hot tubs?

I haven't given it, but from what I've heard, it's used to deal with bladder problems. I know it acidifies the urine of cats and dogs, so I imagine it would also work in goats. Acidifiers are used if there is or has been a problem. One friend uses cider vinegar as a holistic treatment when her dog has stones in her bladder and finds it works well. I think some folks use it in their buck's water, but I don't know how much the give.

I add it and have been doing so daily for over a year. I add approximately 1/2 cup to a 5 gallon bucket, but at this point I just sort of dump some in. One of the side benefits is that my buckets don't get slimey anymore (I used to have to scrub them weekly). For that alone, it's worth the few extra cents spent!!

I use a big splash of it per 2 gallon bucket. My guys really like it and besides acidifying their urine (which may or may not matter), the taste makes them drink measurably more, which DOES matter.

I used white vinegar in the tubs two summers ago to cut down on the algae growth, but just never got around to it this year. That was a couple splashes. Not a whole lot, but enough that the nibby does who took a drink before the water started filling the tubs made some strange faces....lol

There's no way they are going to drink enough vinegar to "acidify" their urine, so save your money.

Yep glugs of white vinegar into the 25 gallon autowaterers to keep algea down all summer. Keeps cleaning to a minimum, tough to dump out 25 gallons of water for a little green.
Certainly there is some nutritional value to algea??? Vicki

I read on hear some breeders use it during breeding season to incearse the # of doelings born, but that was said to only work if you were shooting it into the rear of a goat!
Nope not from me!

I add it my goats water. I have PH tested and yes it does change the PH of the urine. I always add at least 1 cup to 5 gallons of water.
As a Dog breeder, I have seen a huge difference in the amount of females born, since starting to add it to their water. I look forward to seeing that difference in my goats.

I wonder if this would work with chickens. I know I am getting tired of washing their tub out every day. And especially getting hens instead of mean roosters, LOL.

If the whole doeling thing would work, wouldn't you think we would all be having all doelings by now? It doesn't. Or I would own stock in Heinz and I wouldn't send back hundreds of dollars worth of deposits on doe kids not born! If you are of the 'miricle cure' apple cider vinegar set, than don't waste it by diluting it into water! Feed it over their grain or something. Vicki

In the winter when the buckets freeze I use it....along with molasses to encourage the girls to drink before the water freezes. It works well on the algae in summer too.
Mine also love leftover pickle juice sweet or dill....
I give them Kool aid packets in water too.....tropical punch makes them look like they have lipstick on!

Thanks for all the comments on AVC. We have started giving all our animals this. So hopeful everyone will like it. Only animals that don't get AVC is the snakes.. LOL. Everyone else gets it.
Again thanks for all the help.
