Lost kids - rebreeding doe

If a doe loses her kids after they are born, how long would it take for her to cycle again?

it depends on the doe, how far in her pregnancy and the reason why she lost the kids.
if she was in the second half of pregnancy i would wait at least one heat cycle to give the uterus time to tone down and close everything up.
how far along was she?

When we found out about CAE we brood stocked our older does. They had 3 sets of kids in two years. After freshening in December they would naturally recycle in 8 weeks, kidded again in June and would be rebred their first heat in August. It will only take them a few weeks to clean and get their uterus back into shape. With none of the emotional part of abortion or delivery this late in the year I would rebred her back her first heat. She had twins last week. Her colostrum was extremely thick - hardened like candle wax when exposed to the cold air. We didn't realize the kids weren't able to get anything until it was too late. We watched them and they were going to town on the teats, but just not able to handle the thick colostrum. She had kids last year and had no problems so we are hoping this year was just a fluke. How long before she should cycle again?
