Question Corid dosage...is my math right??

Hi everyone! I have another question for you.

My vet told me that the dosage for coccidia is 1 cc per 5 pounds of body weight. If my math is correct, that means my 156 pound goat will get 31 cc per day for 5 days. Is that correct? That seems like so much. Yet, the directions on the bottle confirm that dosage. Is my math right?

Thank you, in advance, for your help!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

Yes, your math is correct. It's just a smidge over an ounce. It just seems like a lot when you say "31."

Is this the kind that's to be mixed with water?

Thank you so much, Cloverbud!!!! I was so afraid when I was giving it to them today. I kept checking and rechecking myself! You're right...I guess when you do it in cc's it sounds like a lot but when you say an ounce...it doesn't sound like such a big deal. Thank you for your help! Now, I can breathe easier!

My vet said it "could" be mixed in with their water if I wanted to. I will do that as prevention in the future...but for now, I want to make sure everyone gets treated.

ONE OTHER QUESTION....I'm just putting the syringe in the side of their mouth, towards the back and slowly squirting it in. Is that how it's supposed to be done? The poor goats act as if it's killing them. I'm getting the impression it tastes pretty bad! hahaha!

Yup, oral liquids are administered like this. It's called 'drenching'. It helps if you get that mouthpeice syringe attachment... but don't buy those expensive nylon 'vet' syringes. just go to walmart or wherever and get those meat injectors or whatnot, they're the same danged thing. and you get two for 5.00 or so, lol.

15 ML is 1 Tablespoon, so 2 tablespoons for a 150 lb animal doesnt sound like much at all

I gave my wether 45 cc of Sulmet (first day) this fall.

It helped to put a teaspoon of table sugar in the mix. I also broke it into a morning dose and an evening dose to try to simulate putting it drinking water.

For our bottle babies we mixed it with gatorade in a bottle.
We now use DiMethox 40% instead of corrid or sulmet - you can get by with a lot less product - makes drenching easier, IMO.
