Herd Names
Hey - just wondering and for fun, what are yalls heard names and tattoo sequences? Is your herd name the same as your farm name? How did you come up with your herd and/or farm names? And was your tattoo assigned or did you pick it out?

My farm/herd name is Caprice Acres. I chose it because goats are caprines. The word Caprice, which means flighty, foolish behavior rather describes goats exactly, as well...
As for my tattoo sequence, it is the last 4 numbers of my phone number: 5806.

That's neat. Very creative.
My herd name is Bona Fide b/c it means "1.) made, done, presented, etc., in good faith; without deception or fraud 2.) authentic;true".
And I thought it just fit the bill for us and ours especially after showing horses and dogs for YEARS and all the baloney that went through making animals appear or act to be things they weren't. We may not be the best or the worst, but take us or leave us - it's who we are.
And my tattoo is IBFN (which stands for I'm Bona Fide Now).

My farm/herd name is HazyDay. And my tattoo letters are HDY
Well If you really want to know why...here!
When I got my first goat, it was a very cold and almost raining day. So thats where the HazyDay came from. HDY came from the CGS I put down 4 different combos and they were all taken so they gave me one that wasn't taken! I like it!
I love my herd name, but I get "why do you want a hazy day?" Well I wanted to remember my first 2 goats!

My herd name/farm name is Ozark Jewels. I was watching my Nubians browsing on the hill one summer day and they were sparkling like jewels in the sunlight. We live in the Ozarks of Missouri....so Ozark Jewels it was. It was also easy to remember and short enough that I have plenty of room for names on the applications.
The herd tattoo I picked is my initials, but that was already taken, so they assigned a number at the end of it.

Lonesome Doe
VSJ for Vicki, and my daughters Stephy and Joni.
No we don't have our farm names since husbands dogs are JR's Texas Ridgebacks and my soap company is Nubian Soaps, and our company Handyman Services...too many names to pick from. Vicki

I am a Morris Dancer and a "half caper" is a particular move in the dance - and since goats caper and I raise Nigerian Dwarfs (among others), I thought it was a good name.
ETA: My first registered kids are named after Morris dances - Half Caper Nutting Girl and Half Caper Gallant Hussar. I can probably go for a while using dance names before I run out - although some might sound a bit weird!
My letters are HACA - there weren't too many 3 letter combos left, and none that I chose, so they said I could have four.

Our herdname is Morn*Mist. The goat herd is Morning Mist, but there was a breeder back in the 1970s with that name, so I couldn't use it.
I went to the ladies of DG+ and asked for help in picking a good short name and that was the one I liked the most. It is still too long for my liking though. With the AJCA our herdname for one owner number is JEJ and it's nice and short.
My herd tattoo is MMO5. I wanted MM05 to indicate the year I started with registered animals, but they misread it as an "O" instead of a "0."
The Morning Mist comes from the first goat we started with, "Misty." I liked Misty Morn as an option, but dad preferred Morning Mist.

My farm name/herd name is Sunny Daze Farm. Since we are in Florida there is plenty of sunshine here and I thought it was cute! Tattoo is 1SD. I wanted SDF but they added the 1. Looking back I probably should have put my herd name as Sunny Daze because it leaves more room for names, but I was just super excited to get a herd name registered...lol.
