Weak 5 month old buckling

Temperature? 102

Symptoms? Weak, weak cry, somewhat hunched, if gets knocked over cannot get up on own.

When was the last time you wormed? before today have not wormed. None of my goats showed signs of worm problems(nice and pink eye lids/gums)

Wormed with what and how much? wormed today with ivermectin 3Xhorse dose

What age? 6 months

Breed? togg/ober X

Do you vaccinate? no

What do her lungs sound like when she is breathing? No congestion breathing is normal

If a buck is he peeing normally or straining? I have not seen him pee nor have I seen him strain. I really need time to watch for awhile to see if he pees or not.

Have they had a change of grain? no grain. browse, alfalfa/timothy hay, free choice loose minerals

How long have you owned this goat? 4 months

I have given the ivermectin, 2 doses of probios, and thiamine inj/sq. I am out of nuri drench. He has been seen eating hay and I have seen him drink water. There was some clumped up poo on his tail but he was laying on it too. It is quite cold out tonight. We have a stall set-up in the bottom part of our garage. I have him and his brother out there now. His eyes seem somewhat sunken in...dehydration? I have a heat lamp on for some added heat and light so I can see while I am out there. Will be going to store to get some stuff for electrolytes and getting him so he doesn't seem dehydrated.

Any suggestions? Please don't advise on the rush to the vet. There are NO vets around here that know a darn thing about goats!

Thanks for any advice!

My guess would be worms, especially since you have never dewormed before. Ivermectin takes a couple days to fully work. It doesn't work down here in the south but might still where you are. Vit B complex wouldn't hurt in the mean time and maybe some red cell if he is anemic. I am sure someone else will speak up as well with their 2 cents.

Pinch his skin to see if it springs back or stays "tented". If it stays tented then he could very well be dehydrated.

Sorry to hear that Unfortunately when they get that weak they tend to go downhill fast. You tried though! I would suggest getting fecals on the rest of your goats, just to make sure.

The first thought that came to my mind was Cocci. Did he have loose poop?
Hugs and prayers to you for your loss.

Nope...no loose stools at all. I thought maybe cocci also, but stools were somewhat clumped, but berries just clumped together, if that makes sense.

Thanks....this part of owning animals is the hardest part for me.

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss.

Please keep me posted if you learn anything more about what happened. I have one suffering from what sounds like the same thing.
