Mini breed questions

Hello! We currently have Nigerian Dwarf goats (3 does, 1 buck) and I was curious about other mini breeds. From my (limited) understanding, a mini LaMancha or Mini Nubian is created by breeding the full size goat to a ND buck and getting small kids? Then I am assuming you would cross these kids with other mini kids to get a second generation. Are there registries for mini breeds and can a first generation (standard X ND) be registered or do you have to breed mini to mini to get registered kids? Also, do these mini breeds tend to milk the same amount as a ND or more? Any info would be great. Thanks!

ND buck to FB dairy goat (not a boer)their offspring is considered a Mini 1st genand can be registered. and yes there are two registries available for them. so say you have a two LaMancha FB does bred to a ND buck their kids are 1st gen then the next year (and most of us don't breed them until they are at least 1 yr old usually 18 mo to 2 yrs. but anyway you take a buck from doe 1 and a doe from doe 2 and breed them you then will get 2nd gen so forth and so on. 1st /2nd/ 3rd generations are all experimental 4th 5th and 6th are American if they conform to the standards of the Full sized dairy goat standards. 7th you then have Purbred. now I may be a little off on that but you get the idea. Takes a long time to get to purebred. because sometimes you need to breed back to say a FB LaMancha buck in order to get correct ear or something. then you are starting over w/ 1st gen even if your doe was a 4th gen . Will have to get you the web sites for the Mini's registars as can't remember off the top of my head.

A mini anything bred with 1 parent being an ND can be registered with ADGA? I thought they wouldn't allow that. I know that they wouldn't allow it being registered as an ND but are you saying they will allow it as a grade or experimental or something else?

I hope someone answers as I have EXACTLY the same situation. My full Nubian (no papers) bred to a registered ND buck.

I have the ADGA rules here, I'll have to dig them out. I now know that to register a goat as an ND it has to be purebred and there was a LOT of discussion recently on the ND_Mini_Goats_Dairy Yahoo! group about this but I haven't had a chance to read it all. I don't think you can register anything with ADGA that is part ND but I will have to read and get back to you all on that. Not sure about AGS, etc. but I bet the rules are pretty similar.
