Looking for female pygmys in Elmira/Corning NY area

I am going to be adopting a co-workers young pygmy doe soon and need to find her at least one companion. I am only interested in females, as I am not interested in breeding right now. So if you have or know someone who has pygmys for sale in the Elmira/Corning area of Upstate NY, please contact me at NChemungGuy@aol.com with information on the goats and price. Please note, I am willing to drive 1/2 hour or so away if it means good quality animals at a reasonable price. Thanks !

It was pointed out to me in an E mail that maybe I should consider a wether if I cannot find a doeling. So again, any help out there ?

a wether is a fixed male, and will not get any of the undesirable buck behaviors. A buck must be separate from does as soon as he can get an erection at about 10 weeks... So a buck wouldn't make a good companion for a doe. they generally stay separate till the breeding season to prevent off season breedings, inbreeding, early breeding, and breeding too often. Bucks have scent glands that produce a very strong, musky smell, often found to be undesireable. They also are aggressive and pee on their faces. BUT a wether will not aquire these annoying buck behaviors and will be just like the doe; odorless, calm, friendly... and will make an excellent companion for your doe.

A wether also will be really sweet. They won't go in a grumpy heat and won't be a HUGE grump in the fall! Maybe look into the other mini breed! Or are you set on a beer keg with legs? LOL! You sure can tell im a Nubian breeder!

Aww! But they're cute little beer kegs with legs!

Beer keg on legs... thats a good one. Honestly, I'm not fussy about the breed, although I prefer smaller due to the size of the shed and fenced in area. However since I only want one or two more in addition to the pygmy doeling, any goat would do for a companion as long as they got along. A few months ago when I was thinking about getting goats, there were tons for sale around here. However now that I have the facilities nearly complete, there are none to be found. Go figure huh ? We're really looking forward to getting started on goats here though.

I am in North West New Jersey, though, I have an aunte who lives in Binghamton. I breed nigerian dwarves. They are small and friendlier. I too would suggest wethers, they are less likely to pick a fight with your doe, as females can tend to get grumpy. My aunte will be coming to visit at the end of the month. Perhaps we could convince her to be the go-between with a goat or two. If not, a road trip would not be the worst thing for my husband and I. I would sell a wether for $175 or 2 for $300. I have white and cream colored wethers currently available. All are mild mannered and healthy (from a clean herd, vaccinated, wormed etc.). They are pure Nigerian and registerable if you ever desire to do so.
Pm me if you are interested and maybe we can arrange transport.
