Poop Question

This morning when I let my two yearling pygmies out to range, I noticed that their stool were clumped together instead of the usual pellets. What could cause this? Is it something to be concerned about or will it work itself out? They are completely free range eaters on about 14 acres, so it is more than possible that they ate something different than usual.

Thanks!
Erin

Have they been porking out on acorns? That will clump them up for a while.

When was the last time they were wormed? Sometimes they do get some loose stools from an increased parasite burden.

My goats have free graze and sometimes they eat too much (I can tell because their bellies are huge) and then the next day their poop might be clumpy. It usually works itself out.

Thank you for the responses : ) My goats are freaking pigs and stuff themselves silly. At the end of the day, they often look comical due to their enormous bellies. I'll just watch them for a couple of days and see if it all goes back to normal. We do not have many acorns that I have noticed, but I'll have to take a better look around. If things don't get back to normal quickly, I will check on the worming. Thank you!

every now and then our Boers stool becomes very thin. Why??? I don't know! I have seen it once in my first grade Alpine, but never in my Nubians or Alpine mix doe.
Maybe since they weren't milking thier bodies are just not using it all the vitimans and Minerals?? Don't know!

My vet told me the pellets will stick together more if the goat has more protien. Too much clumping and it has too much protien. He sadi you want them to look like pellets but hold together just a bit. That was for milkers.
