Can anyone decipher the ADGA pedigree stuff?

We have an opportunity to use this buck
http://www.adgagenetics.org/SireDeta...ber=B001395729

Can anyone tell me how to tell if he is any good? Positives Negatives anything would be greatly appreciated.

My goats parents are:

Waltz's

Sire: White-Haven Sousa Dam: Vassahara's Prizm
Paternal Grand Sire: Tonka Tails Court Jester; Paternal Grand Dam: White Haven Kalliope
Maternal Grand Sire: White Haven Precentor; Maternal Grand Dam: Redwood Hills Finnegan Ginger

Xample's

Sire: Tutlelu Shine on Stephen Dam: Konza kids Alvin Aaren
Paternal Grand Sire: Tonka tails Lancaster Lad; Maternal Grand Dam: Tutlelu Radiance
Maternal Grand Sire: Konza kids Yvan Alvin; Maternal Grand Dam: Meadowsong Lit'l Wolf Arabella

Okay so I don't know if you need to know all of that, but honestly they need a key of some kind on ADGA.ORG because I couldn't figure out a thing by looking at that. Perhaps some kind of translation into English would be good too Okay now you can slam for not knowing enough to breed goats, but would you answer the question too Thanks all.

I don't have Obers but I'll take a stab at it

The dam line has some nice things. The buck's dam Priscilla and both her sire and dam have earned a Superior Genetics designation. The SG means they are in the top 15% of their breed for milk, type, or both. In addition, the dam's dam Lucita has a national Top 10 lactation record and is a permanent Grand Champion.

The dam's sire is a +*B and USDA Elite. The + means he has at least 3 daughters who have earned a *M by making at least 1500 lbs of milk or 50 lbs of butterfat. The *B means his dam and paternal grand-dam both earned *M. USDA Elite is for bucks in the top 5% of their breed for production. So there's lots of milk and butterfat in the dam line.

There is not as much info as I'd like for type in the dam line. The dam Priscilla had an outstanding score of VVEV 88 (89 is the highest yearling score) as a yearling, but no other appraisals. I like to see the scores on the 4, 5, 6 year olds to see if they hold up over time. The grand-dam, Lucita, has a good score of VEV+ 87 as a three year old. I'd like to see a higher score on her udder, but then I also like to see good production, which she has.

The sire's side is weaker. There is no daughter info. on the buck's sire. Personally, I'd want to see what the sire is making before I use his son. The sire does have the *B so we know he has some production behind him. The sire's dam Coocha earned her *M and scored VVA+ 84 as a yearling. Certainly acceptable as a yearling but again, it would be nice to have full info on this doe to see how she holds up both in milk & type as she ages.

So, on the dam's side, excellent milk, Superior Genetics, good type but would like more info. The sire's side, what we have is okay but not enough info. I don't see any reason not to use him.

I don't see any info on your does but those are solid pedigrees. Tonka-Tails & White-Haven are top herds. I've shown many times with Tonka Tails and every doe they have is a "Wow!"- very correct all around with georgeous udders.

First of all I have to say thank you so much, but where on earth did you get all the info!!

At least that is not totally discouraging. I guess he is the one we will probably go with.
