I have 3 bred due to kid Feb. 11th. Then I will most likely breed 3 to kid beginning of March and 3 to kid the first of April, then 3 will probably be bred in March/April and then kid Aug/Sept. Speading them out this year. But who knows that may change it is just a plan LOL!!!!

Yes..... I agree :banana02: I love when those kids start hitting the ground.....But I am also very ready when it is all over.

Yes, me to! I really can't wait till kids hit the ground. But after it's all over (kidding, bottle feeding, weaning, weaning to older does barn. All that stuff) It's all draining on a person! Add school and other things! You just don't have all that time!

Breeding season is OVER!!! the bucks have stopped stinking and all is right with the world LOL. We are so done with breeding season that KIDDING season starts in two weeks! LOL. We timed it this year where half the herd will kid in Oct, their kids will be sold or weaned by the time the next wave of kidding (mostly the dreaded ff's LOL) start to pop in mid Jan.... It still feels like summer at the moment, but they are calling for cooler temps beginning this coming week. Once it cools down, I'm sure I'll get a case of baby fever

We are half way through breeding and in a current pause pattern. Despite the bucks desires and the cycling does.
First two does are due 12/21 and then about 32 more through February 2nd. For now, a break..and I hope to start breeding again October 10th or so. A lot depends on whether the stray Angus did manage to settle 30 cows for May. If so, the does need to be kidded and out of the barn by then to make room for calves and cows.
I'm hoping to have the rest settled for March/April kiddings and no May this year. So it will be pen-breeding time come October. Only five bucks and their harems this year...*sigh*

We will definitely have lots of doelings available next year.
With 70+ doe/lings right now we are a bit over our limit. I need to sell some bred doe/lings...lol

We're about done, too. I'm expecting first kids the week after Thanksgiving, and two sets in December. The next three sets will be end of January/first of February. I have just two younger does I've been holding off on breeding, but I think I will let them breed the next cycle, in a couple of weeks.

I'm starting to get anxious again for the kids.

They live next to the buck pen and that Bo-Se given about 1-2 weeks before I want to start breeding, REALLY helps.

My bucks have been ready and breeding each other for a couple 3 or 4 weeks. Today I split up the older does and put half with each buck. Currently, the does are mad because they're separated from their buddies, and the bucks are missing each other, and it's like a jr high dance - the boy on one side, the girls on the other, nobody happy. I'll give it a couple weeks. The little girls are mad because they're by themselves for the first time ever, some big bad monster is going to steal into the barn at night and get them. They'll all be held over to show as dry yearlings. I don't feel like dealing with baby first freshners this year.

I think it depends on your breed and your location. Here in the sunny south, Nubians start early.

My also live next to each other! Tho the milkers and older boers stay in the barn and :1pig: out on hay! The dry yearlings (3) and my doeling from this year are always at the fence! No-one in heat from the young group!\
My buck is *and* readly to do the deed, but no girls wanna get bred! He has been in rut for 3 weeks now and still no action for him!

It probably has to do with your location. You're a good ways north of the most of us.

The guys'll go in next weekend. I want kids as close to March, or in March, as I can get them. I pasture kid, unassisted, so Jan.-Feb. is not a good deal, I have found.

I've got a 3 yo Nubian due 2/3, a 1 1/2 yo Boer due 2/17, a 1 1/2 yo Kinder due either Oct-Nov or 2/20, and a 5 yo Snubian due 2/21. Oh yeah, they're ALL first fresheners.

Alright I'll bite. I think we are going to pick up a buck from the people we bought our Obers from this Saturday. This will be our first breeding and first kidding next spring. It is kinda scary and exciting all at the same time.
