Now Im a Goat Owner

I brought home my first goats ever today. What have I gotten myself into! I got two billies, one pygmy and one I really dont know has kinda boer looking ears. Hopefully they will earn thier keep by cleaning up my fence rows.

Why bucks? They're gonna stink, be possibly aggressive, likely to be more destructive, and bucks have weird habits. If you're thinking of keeping them either as pets or as meat animals, wethering might be your best bet, not to mention it's not expensive.

Anywho, congrats on making the step into the goat world!

PS, where are the PICS?

MyGoat is right!! They might clean up more than your fence rows. We LOVE our goats but if they were left out all the time I can't imagine the trouble they could get into. We have a really nice, lovable, and smelly Billy but we have him for breeding otherwise he would be Wethered!
Congrats anyhow, Goats are lots of fun.....most of the time!

Shhhh. My wife has a problem with the whole raise, slaughter and then eat concept. Just maybe the billies will be (cantangerous?) enough for her to understand the principle.

So far, the goats arent cooperating the both are really tame and attention hogs. Just my luck. lol

Apparently I dont have permission from the administratiors to post pictures yet.

I don't believe there is a time limit for posting pictures. You cannot attach pictures on this forum. You need to have the pictures hosted on another online site (like photobucket) and then you copy and paste the pictures URL with Img in brackets around it. If you get a free membership to photobucket and upload your pictures there, you can highlight and copy the [IMG] option under that picture and paste it here. The picture will then show up on this thread.

I think this is going to backfire on you, and the goats will be the ones who suffer.

None of my bucks are aggressive. They are all sweethearts! They don't head butt or anything. They do love to be scratched and treats. They also stink this time of year and typing this I can still smell them on my clothes time for a bath. Good luck with the "livestock gotta eat em thing" (should a got chickens)
