Well, if he has a testicle, then I imagine he is producing testosterone, so that means he is fertile.
I honestly don't know if you can band a 3 1/2 month old buckling. I would not. I recently had a full grown buck castrated and it cost $88, and I think NY prices are probably on the high side. The vet knocked him out, also gave a local shot, cut the sack and pulled everything, then gave a shot to bring him out of sedation. Oh, and a shot of long lasting penicillin. I gave the CD&T a couple days ahead of the surgery. I took him to the vet, saving a $50 farm call.
I am a real weinie when it comes to my animals. I actually cried in front of the vet, because I consider this goat to be a pet. It was worth the $$ to be to have him castrated and be able to keep him here with his 3 daughters.
