do all pyr males squat when urinating?

one of the protectors of my goats is my fixed 14 mo old great pyr male. he squats to urinate. i certainly appreciate not having to clean my vehicle tires and other items but it seems odd. is this normal pyr behavior?

I can't speak for pyr's . I do know most young male dog's will squat for quite awhile before beginning to lift their leg. Occasionally my husky mix and beagle still squat but mostly the lift. He will probably start lifting.

At what age was he fixed?

I have found through experience, that most dogs if they are fixed before or just when they start lifting their legs have a tendency to squat more often when urinating, then unfixed or older fixed dogs.

My male shep/lab mix was fixed when he was 5, he's 6.5 now and this summer for the first time since he was a puppy I saw him squat to pee twice... totally out of the blue

Late matureing breeds often take quite a while to raise their legs. The neutering probably also affects the syndrome.

One of my Maremmas still squats sometimes and he's almost 4 years old.

I think it has a lot to do with the 5000 volt electric fence

Ha ha ha-- we often dog sit for a friend who does this. We tell him he pees like a girl. (The dog, I mean - not the friend. That would be weird.)
