penacillin dosage?

Hi!

Our little dog attack survivor, Gracie needs a round of penacillin, I think. She has one wound left--it started as an inch and a half across hole to her insides. It is now maybe a pencil width in diameter and just a surface wound. But it is still healing from the inside. It has a tiny bit of drainage (clear colored) on and off. But the last day it has increased and is taking on a greenish tint to it.

How much penacillin should I give her and how long? Or should I not give her any unless she has a fever? She is almost 6 months old, but isn't too big. She's a Nubian, plus the attack set her back a bit growth wise. So I'm not sure exactly how much she weighs. Maybe 30-40 pounds? She isn't skinny, just little.

Thanks,

Dee

Hi, Last time I gave 1 of our Nigerians an antibiotic I used Duramycin(oxytetracycline) & with that kind it's 1cc per 25 pounds of their weight. I took the bathroom scale right out to their pen, weighed myself then picked up the goat. Hope that helps!
