Breeding How-To Question

Okay, I have 2 children, so it's not THAT question!

I have a wether in with my buck. When I put the doe in, do I need to take the wether out? I'm not planning on an overnight visit, just an evening of supervised romance. Removing the wether is not a problem, but my evening time is scarce, and if I don't have to, that's a bonus.

Who's got the manual?

remove the wether. He'll probably try to ride the doe as well and that will turn out with your buck beating the tar out of him. Wether out, then doe in. Sorry, I know it's a PITA.

In my experience it depends on the wether/buck relationship. If the buck is the obvious dominant animal some wethers won't bother the doe.
On the other hand, most of the time the wether will get in there and try to mount the doe themselves. If you can just clip the wether to a fence or have a smaller pen within the buck pen and intice him with some feed.

My bucks are all trained to be clipped to a fence. It is part of their training here. I can clip them from outside of the fence and then can do whatever I need inside without harrassment.

Well, DUH!! (on my part!) How hard was it to just put them together in an empty stall overnight? Not as hard as it was to think up the idea! He did the deed 2-3 times, and I think she hunchied, so we'll see. I know it only takes once, but he's young and inexperienced, so tonight he can go extra innings if he wants. Sometimes I can be so thickheaded, and others, I'm just a genius.

Thanks for your help, and for not pointing and laughing right to my face!
