Interesting goat behaviour
I was hanging out with the goats in the pasture yesterday and saw a couple of them doing something I'd never seen before. We have a dusty, dead area where we burned a pile of old wood and junk (kindly left to us by the previous owners ) last year. There are a few bushes of catnip along the edge of it, which the goats don't seem inclined to eat.
Sara came over to the catnip, rubbed herself along it and then collapsed into the middle of it and proceeded to roll and squirm. Then she moved over and rolled in the dusty, ashy area. After she got up, Gabriel, the wether, rolled in the same area. He then found a piece of carpet that hadn't burned and proceeded to swing his head from side to side, hitting his flanks with it.
While all this is going on, I'm sitting on a log, with a five-week old Saanen doeling who insists that she is a lap goat!
Goats is weird.
