Trying to help a friend

Goat is a 3 yr doe, mixed heritage. Kids sold last week (8 weeks old). Bag is fine, not hot or really tight.

HOWEVER, gums are white. Tongue is white, eyes are white.

I said cocci or worms. So, we started with what we had, (due to late last night, all stores were closed, & I was out of some things)

Safeguard paste, a little molasses, some yogurt, & Vitamin B com.

I like to use ivermection, but used the last this spring & figured to get some more this fall.

So I gave them a list of injectable Iver., probios, & goat nutridrench.

Doe is lying down, but still sternal, head up. Very, extremely lethargic. Was nibbling on hand picked grass, until last night. Started on Wednesday-Thursday.

What are her chances? Never saw one so extremely pale like this. NOt going to slam owner here, please don't start. She is now learning the hard way.

It sounds like parasites maybe Liver Flukes? I have had the problem seem to sneak up on me and I see my goats every day. I use Valbazen for liver flukes but you can use Ivermectin Plus. Vicki could tell you some other dewormers that might get the liver flukes but Safeguard is not one of them.
My only purebred NUbian doe will get liver flukes when no one else in the herd has them. Her face gets swollen and her gums are white. I treated her and a couple of yearling does for flukes just recently. It has been a very very wet year after too many years of drought. Snails carry the eggs and when they are eaten by accident by a goat, the liver flukes have a field day.
I would suggest some Red Cell or equivalent to boost her hemaglobin.

mamahen hope your friends goat gets well soon.

When I worm my goats either I use IVOMEC or Valbazen.

Good Luck.

While deworming also get her on a daily Fortified B Complex sq injection so it acts faster, injectable iron at first, Red Cell at least 2 x day. Hope she is also isolated since the anemia is painful. Act fast, act aggressively and keep at it until you know she's really recovered - I didn't, so am passing on what I learnt from my hard lesson.

The doe didn't make it, but she is treating the whole herd now as a preventative. No one else seems as bad as this doe. I've never seen a mouth so totally white.

Thanks for all of your advice.
