Bottle feeding schedule

Hi, we are just starting out with goats. They are awesome! We have two 5 week old baby goats we are feeding 12 ounces of milk replacer three times a day. We'd like to convert them to two times a day. Can we gradually change this to 18 ounces twice a day? Will this cause bloat or other problems?

Thanks so much.
Mike

Hi again,

I know I am new to the goat thread, but I'm just wondering if someone has any suggestions for changing the bottle-feeding schedule of these 5 week old kids. I don't want to cause any problems for the little cuties. Anybody out there?

Thanks

Mike

Hi,

*I* would personally just do it all at once, I don't think it would hurt them (I am assuming they are healthy). But if you wanted to do it gradually just to be safe, you could give them 15 oz morn 6 oz noon and 15 evening for a day or two before going all the way.

I would also change them over to goat milk or whole cow milk and get rid of the replacer.
